Hello,

I am just getting into recording and have a Tascam US-428. Now this is a Audio Interface right? and not a mixer? So i need a mixer to output into the Tascam?

I've been looking at the Yamaha MG 16/4. Will this do the job or am i getting far to confused?

I'm thinking i need a Mixer because i can't adjust the quality of the sound EQ and stuff on the tascam until it is actually recorded? So i need a mixer to sort the sound befor i record it...

Any help would be great..

Cheers,

Jon

i think your completely confused, theres no real point in useing a mixer just to have eq. The yamaha eq is probably going to be very basic and seems a waste of money when a free plugin will give you more flexibility and equal or better results.
I would say you should try to get the sound you want without eq, by good placement and microphone choice.

You only need the mixer if you are going to record something like drums onto a stereo track, or trying to record more inputs than your audio interface has.

guitarboi89 is right in a sense: don't rely on the mixer for the e.q.

Thats kind of another reason for it. Using 3 mics to record the drums and don't realy want them as 3 seperate tracks in cubase..
