A shop in my area has had a used Yamaha M508 8 channel mixer for a while and they're not asking a whole lot for it. It's got XLR inputs, phantom power, effects sends and all the good stuff I need.
But I'm not sure if it's any good. Has anyone had experience with this board? Info on the internet is pretty slim on this piece.
Currently I'm using the poor man's Behringer 4 channel Eurorack to power my mics that then go into a KORG digital multitracker. My methods are always changing and I'm always upgrading equipment. Recently I scored a Studer A-80 1/4" reel deck that could be used for recording a live band to tape. I'm wondering if this Yamaha is worth it (under $200) for the extra channels and VU meters and maybe even better sound.
Oh yeah, I play all sorts of music. Mostly rock, but some of it is an ambient type of rock. Maybe ambient folk is a better term for some of it.
Any help will be appreciated.
