Hello everyone i'm thinking of purchasing a Yamaha AW16G, and am wondering if you can hook up an outboard effects processor to the unit, instead of using the onboard effects, and how you would go about doing that.

Anyway replies would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a ton

Eric Johnson

Good point. Can anyone say if it has effect send and return jacks? If I ever get one of these (and its a possibility) I dont want my 2 outboard reverb/FX units going redundant!

YO Eric the RED:

I use the Yam 2816 and I can input an external effects box. Since the AW 16 is built on the same frame/set-up as the 2816, I'd GUESS, yes you can connect your external FX boxes.

However, you will find the effects on the Yamaha to be "very" good and you may find you do not need to patch. I, too, have two FX units kind of sitting in my studio waiting to be patched. But, I don't need to do that very often.

You can check the on the AW16 site forum but methinks it can be done.

Green Hornet :D  :D

You should be able to go on the site and download the user's manual before you buy it. I'm certain it'll tell you in there if it has an effects send/return patch or not.

Thanks Hornet and Rokket

Hey thanks for the input, yeah being the dummy i am  I should have though about downloading the manual (good idea rokket)

Thanks again for the input, i'll have a ton more stupid questions for you guys if you don't mind :)

The "Other" Eric Johnson (Hey I have my own killer tone too!!) just don't get paid for it! (not yet anyway :D )

I was going to ask something silly about your name, but I figured it wouldn't be appropriate. :D

Don't be afraid to ask your questions, but I would caution you to look around this board first, as it's common that 100 people have already asked the question you need an answer to. It'll save you time waiting for a response, and avoid someone giving you the "use the search function" answer. When you do get your machine, have fun with it, and learn as you go. Being a good recording engineer takes time. I'm not even there yet. If you get stuck with something, we are always here.
And post your songs when you get one done!
