Red, multiple reviews of these two in magazines lately. I know that Recording mag critiqued the Yamaha in the March issue, and I just read a review of the Korg in another(was it SOS?). Poke around a bit to learn more. I can only remember that they both received strong write-ups, but there were a few clear jabs at both models. I remember thinking that one or two of these shortcomings might affect me if I were looking for a machine now.
If you head over the the forum that Six mentioned, be sure to scroll down to the new 1600 section. By the way, anyone familiar with the aw16g would be instantly at home on the 1600 since the layouts are nearly identical. It's nice in a way since the similarity allows 1600 and 16g owners to discuss together nearly all of the same issues. But the capabilities and specs of the 1600, as you probably well know, are significantly better in key ways.
Can't say more since I've never touched a Korg. I've read good stuff about them through the years, though.
