Hi all,

Im a guitarist from the south west england, my band have now recorded two cds in a proffessional studio, but found the cost of recording the second cd to be so much that we reckon we might be better off investing the money in our own studio.

We have the space available already and are looking at buying a yamaha 01v96 to use as our main console. I believe this mixer links to a personal computer/audio workstation and integrates with cubase VST to record to the computers hard drive.

What we dont understand is what links the mixer to the pc, is it a PCI type card and would this be supplied with the mixer or need to be bought separately????

are there any other options worth considering instead of the O1V96??

Thanks
Stu

You are right, it is a PCI card that links the mixer to the computer. In regular term it is the "sound interface" Since you have a very good mixer with Adat facility, get a interface like MOTU 2408 or 828, Delta 1010 or something with Adat facilities and you'll have very less wires running (cos one light pipes takes 8 channels at a time) and the routing would be very easy. The Mixer channels are exactly mapped to the software channels.
Good Luck!
