XP-50 question

I currently own a Roland XP-50 music workstation. I am planning to record my band soon, and I like one of the bass drums sounds from one of the rhythm sets. I was wondering if there is any way that I can use a trigger pad on my drummer's bass drum and have it trigger the bass drum sound from the XP-50. If this is possible, please list everything I need to do and get to get this sound. Thank you for your help.

You can do this BUT! do you have the $
what you need is a midi trigger which can be $300-$3000
basicly it works like a button that sends midi to the XP-50 and tells it to activate that sound
Pretty cool (wish I had one)

You could also do it by running his kick drum through a compressor when you record. The compressor would need a side chain output which you could use to send a midi signal to your XP-50 to trigger the sound you want. This would happen every time the compressor engaged though so you would have to want it on every kick, otherwise, you'll have to go with the midi trigger pad.
