xlr wall plate installation

I'm building a very small vocal booth/amp closet and I'd really prefer to do things the correct way. SO, instead of just running wires through a small gap in the door, or a poorly cut hole in the wall, I plan on buying xlr wall plates. I haven't ordered them yet and have no idea what the wiring will look like. I was just wondering how easy (or difficult) it is and if anyone could possibly provide a diagram or some general instructions.

OH AND, I have made attempts at searching for answers before posting here. :p

I hope I don't get bashed too badly for this one...

i did the same thing, lonng time ago, i just took an old xlr cable, cut the ends off, and spliced the wires to the according connecter on the wall plate...

worked for me.

That idea sounds very simple and if that's how it's done, I feel kind of foolish for not even thinking of that. ha. Thank you both for your responses.

FEDEX delivers the wall plates tomorrow along with my 2" auralex wedgies!
I can't wait to get to work.
