This is mainly just for my own curiosity, but is there any sort of sound quality lost during a XLR to line conversion?

XLR is a connector. Line is a type of signal.
If you are asking if an XLR to TRS will change the sound quality, the answer is no.
Don't confuse the type of connector with the signal it is carrying. An XLR cable could just as easily be carrying a line level signal as a mic level signal.
There is no difference in quality between an XLR connector and a TRS connector.
