XLR to 1/4???

so i dont want to buy a d/i box. can i jus buy a XLR connector to a 1/4 in. and go from the line out on my amp to one of the xlr's on my board? good idea or not?

Don't shove a line level signal into a mic level input!!!

Doesn't your board have line level inputs? If not, it doesn't matter if you want to buy a D.I. or not - You're going to have to.

you could buy an XLR to 1/4 but you'd need at least a line level attenuator to bring the signal down to mic level
