XLR or 1/4" to hook up Powered Monitors?

I have Event 20/20p monitors and I've been using Guitar cables for the hook up to my mixer. They're not matched either...

I kinda forgot about this (for 2 years)... when I changed my setup a couple years ago I used what I had to get it going. I recently was moving my stuff around and realized I never got matching cables like I planned.

In a past post when I had a different setup w/ RCA Outs, someone did tell me not to use Guitar cables.

I'm thinking I should just get a pair of XLR cables... But I'd like to know why Guitar cables are not good to use? (if anyone does know)

Thanks,
B.

XLRs or *balanced* (read: stereo!)1/4", makes no difference.

Don't use unbalanced (mono; guitar leads) if both your source and your destination are balanced i/o...

I think what I missed and understand now... is 1/4" cables are fine as long as I use TRS cables and Not TS cables.
Thanks.
B.

I would still use XLR over TRS. They make a better connection and they don't short the tip of the plug across the ring and sleeve of the recepticle if the are plugged or unplugged hot.
