I have just purchased a computer with 2 Xeon processors in it... Is this a good computer for recording music with? I used N-Tracks and Fruityloops.

Thanks for any info

Bill

Xeon is an intel proc with a larger cache. Having two is even better. Sounds like it's all good.

In my opinion it's overkill. It should work great but I get the feeling it could be going to waste. I'm not sure how N-tracks handles multiple processors, if supported at all which after glancing at their site it appears they don't.

That thing must have cost you a fortune.

Xeons are good for audio, but the real question is, are they worth it? Answer is probably no, but hey, you have a crazy fast computer.

xeon's are used in a lot of servers.. they're great cpu's, overpriced worse than Mac's but good none the less.

what speed is your dual xeon machine???

i've seen some servers with quad xeons... think about how many plugins/vst's you could use if software supported quad processors...lol
i think Sx supports dual processors...

i just say the 3gig intel..damn.. i can't wait til the 3.4 gig amd hammers come around...

3gig's are out? damn, I'm still working on a 700Mhz AMD. By the time I replace it, the 700Ghz machines will be out. =)

He said he was using N-Tracks though Teacher. You are right though. I can only assume that he's also going to use Win2k or WinXP Professional.

Then again, if you can afford a dual Xeon's, either OS should already be installed already. :D

Xeon's

I actually bought the processors and the motherboard as seperate pieces and paid just under $250 for both. I have been looking at a better piece of software for midi. I am happy with N-Tracks audio recording but it seems to lack on the midi end and I have problems with some vst's. Good ones too....
