If you're into DIY projects, then you might be able to do something cool with them. Do some searches on Youtube and you'll find a ton of ideas for building your own v-drums. The problem is that if you wanted to keep them really cheap, then you're going to lose realism. I'm not a drummer, so the goal is that if a drummer came over to my place to jam, they would feel comfortable playing on it and not think I'm a crack-head(or just unprofessional) for having "frankensteined" gear. You may be better off using them as add-ons to another kit. Good luck!
