Hi,

I have a Soundblaster X-FI and V-Amp. I wanted to know the best way to connect them. Currently I do it directly from V-Amp to X-FI's mic jack, but that doesn't give me a very nice sound. Any suggestions? Should I put something between them, like a mixer?

Also, could someone explain to me what a pre-amp is? :)

Thanks

line outs plug into line ins
HI-Z (hi impedance) outs plug into HI-Z ins
Microphone outs plug into Microphone ins (mic)

the end sound you get is a combination of where you plug it into (you don't need to plug it into your mic input...plug it into your line input) and how well the soundcard is made.

a preamp is just what it sounds like. It amplifys a signal before you do anything with it. Pre-amp...pre-amplification. It brings a mic level signal up to line level
