Unpossible!
Just wanted to give all the lightnimgMP3.com users a bit of a heads up. The current host has been having lots of problems lately, which have effected the site, and caused a lot of problems. It got so bad, that I have been unable to access the server side of the site for a couple months. So, today I am working on transferring over to a new host on a VPS account. The new host is a highly rated hosting company, and the VPS account will give the site a lot more flexibility. Because of the change over, there may be a few problems over the next couple days. I apologize in advance for any inconveniences.

That being said, if anyone is, or knows of a decent PHP/MySQL programmer that would be willing to help with the site for a discounted rate, please drop me a PM.

Thanks!

Gunnar :D

Good luck with the changeover, and thanks, Gunnar.... :D

cool! I have been unable to listen to files posted on lightningmp3 for a couple months now.

Good Luck

F.S.

Edit:

Never mind my comment. It's Nowhereradio that I can not access.

Thanks for letting us know, and thanks for having such a kick ass site.

I noticed that uploads never worked good with FireFox.

I've learned some PHP/MySQL, so depending on what you need done I can do it, possibly for free.

If you read the upload page it says it doesn't work with Firefox. If you know how to make it so Firefox can verify that the file is an mp3 that would be FANTASTIC. The guy who originally coded the site said firefox couldn't do that, but that was awhile ago.

When the site is back up, I'll PM you, and maybe you can take a look at the site, and see if you can tune 'er up a bit.

How long ago was it written? I'm almost positive PHP can do the MP3 verification server-side. Maybe the old server had an old version of PHP that couldn't do that and he had to work around it..?

I think the current site checks if it's an MP3 file based on MIME type. FireFox uses a different MIME type than IE does.

You have been providing an awesome service Gunnar! Thanx! :)

Well I could help if you went with the Microsoft SQL/ASP/IIS route....

I think you are right.

Someone said PHP can do server side verification? That would be GREAT.

On a side note - the old host is so thrashed that it's been a battle moving the site, and we are still working on it.....Sorry. :(

G-

I noticed some problems a few weeks back. I guess I should have informed you. :p Sorry man.

Thanks for the cool service.

thats kinda wierd because i know i've uploaded MP3's thru your site using Firefox before. i've been using Firefox for a couple years now, and i know i posted a few songs recently through your site. but yeah the last couple times i tried putting some files up on there, i was getting error messages.

thanks NL5 for a kick ass hosting site, and hopefully you can get it going again and back to normal soon.

Had no problems with the site when I used it. Looking forward to it being running in full force again.

It's a great service.

OK - servers have been switched!

It was quite an ordeal, but everything should be good now. The site has grown to over 20GB of "active" MP3's. January saw 40k unique visitors with hits well into the six figures! The new VPS should be faster, hold a lot more data, and has 300gb of dedicated bandwidth. Hopefully that lasts awhile! :D

Anyway, I am going to try and get the site work with Firefox, as well as some other upgrades. If anyone can help with PHP/MySQL, or has any suggestions for the site, please PM me.

Thanks,

Gunnar

Thanks Gunnar - I really appreciate your putting this site together. I've used it without any problems several times. It's one of the easiest sites to use for uploading MP3s. :D
