WTB: Small PA Speakers

I think in this instance, unless you can factor in some used cabinets, you get what you pay for. If you want two cabinets for $300, you can find them for sure, but don't be supprised if they sound honky when you play CD's thru them, and the piezo tweeter fails after 6 months.
If you can jump up to $600 for the pair, there are an incredible amount of choices, but you buy that Nady, ProSound, Gemini, Behringer junk... you might be spending 600 clams in the end, when you buy replacements.
Not to mention, they may go down the 2nd and 3rd time too. Remember, you said "kids".... remember, they don't go for elevator music levels either, and don't know the limits of "other peoples" equipment.

Those cheapie speakers will really suffer when you send clipped signals to them from your "cheapie" amp too.

One last point... and I am sure you already know this. God doesnt' need someone's junk either. Pray for what you need, and He will make sure you get them, I am SURE. :)

Sounds like the Prayer of Jabez to me. ;) I have a pair of EV's with a 15" and Horn in each (work good on trees). They would definetly work, but they would be pretty heavy to ship. :o

We use the powered Mackies at our Church for the kids. They work well too for the situation.

Peace
AJ

This is like a 20 x 30 room and it can't get too loud because just outside the door is the sanctuary! Before we moved to Indy I was running the PA through two spot monitors hung from the ceiling and that was enough until the youth used the room and ran a bass through it.

I'm looking for a pair of small, 12" or 10" speakers I could use for the PA in kids church.

I'm looking at http://www.pulsartech.net/product/PS12L_F4 or http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110080724484&fromMakeTrack=true

The latter probably suck but the kids would think they're cool.

Ya I'd stay away from the latter ones. I've seen alot of their stuff on ebay and it all looks pretty cheesy. You might try craigslist.com in your area. I see name brand cab's all the time for cheap on there. Usually Peavey or Jbl.
some of those plastic units would be nice weight wise.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for any deals.

Are they for live music or speech or both?

Got the rest of the setup I assume? Amp, board or a powerd board?

Edit: Man I just checked out craigslist in your area. There is almos nothing listed in the musical instruments catagory. Bummer! Around Portland it's flooded every day  odd. That's one of the best places for deals.

Yeah, we had the whole setup before we moved. I left the speakers behind because they were installed permanently in the room and the youth group had blown them. Now my wife's getting involved in that again so it looks like I'll need to get the system out.
