Time to upgrade. The duct tape just isn't doing it anymore. Anyone got some they care to part with?

I have some of the MF ones and they are not great. I think the On-stage ones that they sell at 6 for $99 are of much better quality (heavier, more solid, better connector threads). I'd check Craigslist for this kind of stuff too-- I've gotten good deals on accessory stuff like this on the NY one.

I've never been impressed by any of the cheap mic stands. They invariably are too light, have legs that are too short, and tip over in a light breeze with pencil condensers attached. :D

Spend a little more money and get yourself a couple of Tama stands. You won't be disappointed.

i have the MF 10 pack..

for $100, there OK.. the onstage blow them away.

not for gigging though. studio, OK, even then, its hard to get them to catch at the right point sometimes, they don't grip tight really.

Good enough for temporary? I'd like to eventually get upgraded to some nice ones, but I need some for now, I've been just looking for shit to hang mics off of cause i'd have good mics and stuff like that and forget that they need to be held by something.. :(

I use the MF stand for stage and recording. But definately not for overheads. They are very light weight but are good when not extended too far. You can't beat the cheap price for stands.

For overheads... I use the same type of idea as dgatwood.

yeah, good in enough for temps.

i use my overheads fine....

i'm using little AKG C430 SDC's.

I wish I could stilll get the old atlas stands with the cast iron base around here. I don't really want to pay to ship a mic stand.

My boom recently broke off and was going to buy a couple good stands again. I like to keep the stand part fairly far away and the boom out at length. I found that with the cast iron base ones, you can put a 5 or 10# weight on top of the base and it will improve the stability.

I have 2 of these in brand new condition.

I bought them to use as drum mic overheads, but I've gone to completely digital Roland drums...they're just sitting around. I don't even own a real cymbal any more. I'd be happy to sell them to you but I don't know if you'd get killed by the shipping charges or not. If I had to guess, depending on where you are, the shipping might be $15 or so. Not sure until I could get them boxed up and weighed for UPS. PM me if you wanna chat about them further.

Thanks, but I think i'm going to get that 6 pack of them cause I'll probably use them all up breaking them or something eventually anyway, haha.
