I unsubscribed to them as soon as they came out. I'm a bad mod. :(

Nah you're good. I opted out immediately.

We come here every day! We don't need no dumb newsletter to know what's going on.

Bots will bump the views. It happens in the MP3 clinic all the time. When I posted my "Surrender" cover, it had like 60 views within the first minute. Bots. The thread was full of bots. Too bad they don't buy music.

Try recording some Techno/Electronic stuff....maybe then the Bots will buy it! :D

I actually don't hate that music. When it's done well, I think it's interesting to listen to, like kcearl's stuff. He's very good at it IMO. It's like being on LSD without having to take it!

But no, I won't be making any music like that. I don't even know where to begin.

Oh...I like that stuff too, and have quite a bunch of CDs.
Always think about doing some as a new project, but I've got way too many songs on the shelf in various unfinished states to start up something totally in a different direction.

Yes....I've heard kcearl's stuff....it's good.

Ah, so you opted out when it was boring and naff.

No more summaries of silly threads like this. Instead, they've re-vamped it with some really good stuff. The lead story last Saturday was Henry Moresound's blog "My Secret Life with the Kardashians" followed by Jimmy69's tell all expose about "Miley Cyrus Twerking in my home studio...which happens to be my bedroom".

You should try it again.

Borderline pathetic. :o :D

Yes kcearl has won the 13 yr old's Seal of Approval. It's a high honor. :) I haven't even attained that status yet. (and I'm the dad :( )

that's just because there's a teenager involved.

:)

If by tape you mean analog, then analog is better. Vinyl will give a very good reproduction and will win against digital until you bring it to a higher level.

Play a record in a dance hall vs a MP3. To me it sounds less.

And we have a WINNER!

...Top thread on the Saturday newsletter!

Just think how many people will read all 315 posts and totally change their home recording plans based on the gems of information contained herein!

If I could record analog, I wouldn't go solely analog. I'd have probably a hybrid set up only because I've heard of horror stories revolving around pure analog production. Both analog and digital require some sort of juju to work with, but analog in order to make it really sweet. Requires a little bit more. I'm still new to this game, so I may begin working on a hybrid set up as I get more funds down the road.

For those that record digitally, would you ever consider recording on analog recorders if they were freely available ?

For fun, sure.

The music for the movie "The Incredibles" was recorded analog - even if eventually it had to be transferred to digital. The producers felt analog gave a certain sound they wanted.
