Someone on this forum said he uses this as his vocal booth... he said you cant tell the difference between this and a professional booth... would something like this really work for absorbtion? also are the white walls really walls or is it foam? i cant tell...

pretty sure those are just white walls.....

i cant tell you if that would work, youd have to hear it. I would imagine you would want more absorbtion, especially bass. That room will act as a huge resonator if you dont absorb some of the sound. Perhaps a checker pattern all over the wall, but still not perfect.

yea thats what i was thinkin... like a checkered pattern all over the wall... hmmm... anyone else got opinions?

If you look closely at the bottom of those panels you can see the cloth where it has been pulled to be stapled. My guess is that those panels have some form of absorption behind the cloth, otherwise you would have the resonation which you would not have in a proffessionally made booth.

so your suggesting that maybe they are walls with perhaps fiberglass or foam on them, covered by fabric and then some foam on top?

If you look down the side of the panels you can see the staples holding the cloth in place, I can't see the back of the panels so they could be frames with an absorption medium (rockwool, rigid fiberglass) covered with cloth and then acoustic foam panels on top. The frames may have drywall on the back or they could just be covered in cloth both sides.

Its not, thats just drywall. You can see the edge of it on the left side. That setup ix nothing more than drywall and those foam squares.

There is no way that sounds as good as a pro setup. Not even close. Well thats not true. IF the source is speaking softly it may work, but to sing or sing loud not a chance.
