Would this be enough?

For mixing, would it be enough (at least temporarily) to lace my walls with moving blankets and put some auralex bass traps in the corners? That way, the moving blankets would abosrb some of the high freqs while the bass traps would absorb whatever is left. Just wondering if I would still be able to get reasonably accurate mixes this way until i can afford something better.

Well I know nothing personally about auralex, but I really don't believe that those "bass traps" from foam they show off do that great of a job absorbing at lower frequencies. The blankets will do fine for his probably. How about at least getting some rigid fiberglass or rockwool. Of course its not as ideal as actually buying or building your own true bass traps, but If you are looking for an easy way out (which you really shouldn't do), I guess that would be... OK, but only ok.

What's the difference in a "true" bass trap and a rigid fiberglass/rockwool panel?

i think using rockwool might be cheaper than the Auralex stuff, and much more effective.

I think that when you price it out the Auralex plus the moving blankets isn't saving you all that much.

Also, as others have said check the comparative price of rock wool and fiberglass.

Go to your local Home Depot, and ask for Roxul Drainboard. It is cheap, and it is 8pcf rigid rockwool insulation. Cut them into whatever size you want, but odds are it will only be 1 inch thick, so each panel needs to be 4 pieces taped together(to achieve 4 inche thickness). It is WAYYYYY cheaper than auralex, and does a better job too!

One guy on here, can't remember who, makes rigid fiberglass bass traps for $45 including shipping(i think)

"i think using rockwool might be cheaper than the Auralex stuff, and much more effective."

Yea it is, but i dont have a way to get any fiberglass in my area. I have to order panels from someone and shipping on that stuff kills you. I already have moving blankets, and i can get 5 auralex bass traps for the price of just the SHIPPING of 5 fiberglass panels.

"shape? do you have any clue?"

Yea, shape. I was refering to Auralex LENRD bass traps which are jagged for added diffusion. Fiberglass panels are usually 2'x4' and are flat... so yea... shape...

I already have plenty of moving blankets, so all i gotta do is get some bass traps. I can get 4 Auralex bass traps for ~$80.

Yeah, Justabassist does. I plan on buying a few bass traps from him but his shipping price is $108 (which is not in his control, so nothing against him).

Once more...this is the guy that's making and selling them.
Are you getting commission or something? How much? Might think of joining myself. 10% will do, lol.

Nope...someone asked...I just posted the answer...I'm flush with my setup. Never even talked with this guy. Just heppin' :)
