Would it work?

Van I ask what you are using as a preamp? Honestly, would it not make more sense to buy a preamp that has phantom power, so you get all in one? I would suggest any of the small tube preamps, either an Art tube pre, a presonus tube pre, a behringer mic100 whatever!

Also, that is a DI box, which means that you use it to record line outputs from bass guitars and acoustic guitar pickups and things like that. In fact it doesn't even put out phantom power, it REQUIRES phantom power to work.

So in short. No it will not work.

My advice?
Peavey PV8. Phantom power and really precise pres.

Depends also how many channels you need. Got here few recomms.

A good 4-channel one

Behringer also has a 4-channel tube preamp. Some seem to love it quite a bit due to the decent price/quality relationship.

Also, most mixers provide phantom power and also add ability to play with eq.
The Behringer unit is only a 2 channel pre, but it's kind of harsh (go figure). I would not recommend it unless you are just completely strapped for cash and need 2 channels. It definitely needs a good compressor behind it though...
