Hi:
I've been hanging around for a week or so before I dip my toe in the water.
I'll be posting some of my stuff here for tips and suggestions.
You won't find anything too complicated in my arrangements as I'm a folk singer and not too much into modernization.
Always interested in constructive criticism.
I've basically finished this one (tonight) with regards to levels and so on but will be happy to hear what some of you think.

not bad. even though it is very simple it is pretty well mixed. i would like to hear some scottish snare or bag pipes though. it kinda makes me feel like a wee lass.

This is really nice. You tell a nice story.

I think the mix sounds great. The music sounds pretty familiar, but your voice and the lyrics make it your own. You have a great pub voice, and you sing very well. Everything is nicely done. Great.

Oh, it's not my own by any means. Most of what I record is traditional. This one however was written by Eric Bogle. A Scot living in Australia.

i would like to hear some scottish snare or bag pipes though. it kinda makes me feel like a wee lass.

I won't stick around for too much of that.

Welcome to the clinic!
A fine choice of song & a lovely rendition.
The story of a bush farmer's tribulations with quite a few clues to origin (I've been a cocky, Flying Dr., Black Jen, cried out for water, Burma Railway) works brilliantly with your arrangement.
The piano accordian is subtly done as is the flute/recorder. The panning of these is nicely done creating a good balance.
Bogel absorbed Aussie theme almost seemlessly & added a unique perspective to them. Dying at peace in old age isn't often the theme of a song.
I really enjoyed the tone of your voice - almost mesmerising - & placed beautifully in the mix.
What guitar do you use & how is it mic'd? The tone is great & the bass strings don't boom.

Nice and traditional, love the scottish accent. Reminds me of scottish moors and glens. Recording really sounds like it's in a pub, I can almost smell the Guinness....

You won't hear the bass strings on my guitar. It's a tenor.
This is one of Bogle's happier songs by the way.
I'll be getting my studio back next week and will be happy to put my efforts up for review.
Will also have a listen to some of your recordings and just maybe I can offer some suggestions.
