Workin on the basics...

Started from scratch...read everything you all wrote. Here is a song I wrote 20 years ago and just re-did in my studio instrumental only... lots of problems I know, but feedback would be appreciated. I'm workin on all aspects of recording my songs so all suggestions and coments will be more than welcome. I'm trying to get a good mix with great instrument definition.

Nice start. Decent vibe to the song.

The first thing I notice is that the overall level of the song is VERY quiet. You have a bunch more headroom to work with. Go ahead and use it!!

I think the recording defininition is OK, though it's a bit difficult to tell at low volumes. It might be helpful if you spelled out your signal chain and/or gave a rundown of your eqipment.

Not sure I really like the tone on that clean-sounding guitar. It needed a little more "fullness" to the sound.

Also I don't think that you got the best take possible on the keyboard part that played the melody line. It seemed a little off at times.

As I said, a nice start. Keep posting them.
