Seriously, the best compliment I can pay to music I hear on this board is when I find myself not listening to hear what I think of this or that, or to notice what's wrong with it--but instead I just get lost in it because it's great music.

That's the case here.

I'm still not entirely finished with the mix though, but I am pretty happy with how it's sounding so far.
 
Oh, by the way, I've listened to your legacy lead tone thingy about 50 times today, despite the strange phasey thing that's going on with the drums :D Absolutely love it.

I actually loaded it into pro tools, flicked it into mono, put the starting drums on a loop and phase-reversed one side and there's barely any difference. Something strange going on there. Although I know that wasn't your fault ;)
 
Totally enjoyed listening. Great band.

There's something a little weird around 4:15 when the vocals come back in after the break. They seem much louder than previously.

Great song.

Vocals are too hot for me. Everything else is jamming. Drop them vocals back into the mix or use more sompression or volume envelopes or something. Some of those louder parts jump out too loud.

Was just listening back to the mix on my pc speakers (some shitty creative ones), and I'm finally hearing what you guys are saying about the harshness.

I actually mixed most of this on headphones (don't shout at me :o) and they're quite warm sounding, so I must have looked over the harshness. I didn't pick it up through my rokits either :confused:
 
That's one jammin song there Philbagg. Nice band and nice recording. You really captured that "live" sound.

Yeah real good musicians. Agree the vox are a little hot - just a bit. Bass is too I think.

Seems like there's a splash of reverb on everything except the rhythm guit on the left. It sounds out of place with the rest of the tracks.

Drums sound great. The hi tom seems a lot softer than the other toms. Not sure if you can do anything about that or not.

Cheers TripleM. Yeah I only noticed today what you're saying about the rack tom being lower than the floor (not literally :D). I'm not sure if it can be fixed with volume/compression as it might be a playing issue. I'll look into it though.

Agree about the guitar aswell. I think all the rhythm guitars could do with being brought up a tad, and pushed further back with some reverb. You gots good ears ;)
