The thing about celerons is they suck for FP calculating. That is EXACTLY what is being done during audio PROCESSING. Playback and recording are fairly trivial tasks that require very little cpu work. If you plan to run a lot of effects on a lot of tracks, that celeron will get beat by a way slower p4/athlon.

The quotes from that article are correct, if you are just doing basic email/word proccessing ANYTHING would be fine, but we are talking about audio production work. The only thing worse is video production work...find me one professional video production workstation that runs a celeron...wont happen, almost all of them are apples.....why?....RISC...

Thats my 2 cents.

BTW - I build computers all the time, my current one cost me LESS than $600 for everything but the monitor, and it will SMOKE that celeron(and it's over a year old). Build one yourself, it's really not that hard. Just go to www.newegg.com

ps - spend your money on a big FP display....makes life a whole lot easier...I spent more on my monitor than the entire rest of my comp.
