Word clock question

Okay, here is blatantly obvious question #1 from Andrew:

I have an Omni I/O..... I know how to operate everything on that, that's not the question....
I only record into that.. I have no midi, no adat, no other digital equipment stuff... other than a few outboard pres and compressors, that's it...
in this scenario, a word clock will have no benefit to me, right?
RIGHT???????
:(

Wrong. A more stable clock will definatly improve audio performance. If you have a word clock input on your soundcard something like a Lucid GenX6 can improve it.

well, I don't have a word clock input anyways....
but I thought the word clock really only became necessary if you were dealing with numerous pieces of equipment that all needed to be synced to a master clock.....
jeez, even after reading like 8 different threads on this issue, I still have yet to fully understand the word clock thing....
