We just installed Cakewalk Home Studio 2002. Now when we try to download midi tracks off the Internet it simply plays them and no longer displays the box "Open here or save to disk". Hence we can't figure out how to save them.

can't you do a right click and choose something like "Save target as" or similar?

We just figured it's actually downloading the stuff without asking. Maybe depends on the site. Oh well, that's less of a problem. On reflection though I think the sites were "download" sites, so possibly without the option just to "listen".

Thanks anyway. Right click simply asks if you want to minimise etc.

Are you saying that loading Home Studio caused this? I find that hard to believe. It's more likely that it's just the site you're going to. Some midi sites are like that. They won't allow you to download. There are hundreds of midi sites on the net where you can download midi files. Find some others.

Sounds like perhaps HomeStudio became your system's default MIDI player when it was installed, and it's being used as a helper app in the web browser. The default on clicking a URL of a file of the type it plays is to load it up and play it. It does download it but into the temporary internet files cache.

Just right-click and you should get a context menu that pops up, and one of the choices is to save it to your local drive.

As djc says too, some sites are configured to prevent downloading and will just stream the file.
