I'm going to purchase a sequencer to construct my hip hop / R&b tracks in a couple of weeks. I'm having trouble on witch one to buy. I have to choose from the rolond groove boxes and the yamaha rmx1 because they fit directly into my budget.

Now, i hear that the yamaha rmx1 is the best to get in my price range. I have no knowlegde at all to sequencers and midi so i need a little bit of help from u guy's to get me on track.

ok here are my newbie type questions...............

what's the meaning of time signature?
I got a keyboard so i wouldn't need the yamaha 4 anything but the sequencing drums and a few synth sounds.

I would like to know if the rmx have a good orchestra section in it cause i love working with those type of sounds?

Does the unit have dj scratch sounds on it?

All help would be greatly appreciated! And HAPPY NEW YEARS FELLAS!!!!!!! Peace out

if u wanna do hiphop then look 4 an used MPC because u absolutely need a sampler too.

i agree.. need sampler and yamaha rs7k/motif would be out of your budget, but a used mpc2000xl/3000 wouldn't..

lol lol!!! what kind of help was that??? That have nothing to do with what i was asked u guys now did it? i didn't even mention sampler or mpc now did i?

But on some real shizz, I make my own samples with my keyboard... I'm musically skilled must I say.

THANKS ANYWAY FELLAS!! BUT ANYMORE HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED... PEACE!

Here is some help, and please don't get offended or take this out of context ;) ,but .... the word which is spelled w-h-i-c-h, not w-i-t-c-h :D .

peace....

struberg and chriss were correct in directing you to the MPC.
Even though you play your music "live", you will still need to sample the music, in order to sequence the music.

Maybe you should give us a list of your equipment. ;)

Plus, if you are on a budget, your best route would be a used MPC.

Wut? you expect to make hip hop without sampling? Knowing both the mc 307 and the rm1x quite well I will continue advicing you to consider a used mpc2000xl/3000... or maybe a yamaha psr9000 which should also be fairly cheap these daze.. Bot have sequencers as good as the rm1x and far, far, far better than the shitty sequencer on the mc307..
being musically skilled myself i know that a 307 or a rm1x in the long run would be a limitation..
no pun intended, but please don't take good advice for shit here..

hi uja!

i own a rm1x and even if it is a fine thing for electronic i do not recommend it fo rnb and hiphop (except u already have a sampler). I havent worked with the 307 but with the more professional 505 and this one is also not built for your matter.

peace and coffee, Mark

oh i forgot:
the reason u need a sampler is because hiphop and rnb are mainly based on heavily altered sounds messing around in the background. There isnt't a clean string and piaono melody that makes the feeling. The charizma of hiphop comes from the dirty beatz and sounds.
