wiping hd clean

hi all just got my son a new pc. so im converting old pc to daw i want to wipe the c drive clean, should i use the foctry discs, or is there a better way. also 2nd hd is for audio only will a complete sys restore recognize my 2nd drive. compaq 733, 256 ram c drive 40 gig, 2nd audio only drive 30 gig on 2nd ide channel. thax.

If you are installing WinXP then the install process will wipe the hard drive clean for you. Same with Win2K (from what I remember).

Put the original disk in, restart, it should prompt you for re-formatting the drive, and then for installing Windows. Yes the other drive will be recognized.
