WinXP Service Pack 2 - Firewire Issues

Apparantly Windows XP SP2 has a new firewire implementation that is negatively impacting on all sorts of devices, including audio interfaces, making them inoperable under SP2. From what I've been able to gather, Microsoft doesn't see it as a bug, but rather as a new way of dealing with firewire, and, accordingly, I don't think that they are doing anything to fix it.

Does anybody know anything more about this?

yeah, we've known about this for awhile now. Microsoft updates and every other company scrambles to keep their software compatible. sucks, but that's the what we have to deal with when we use computers all the time.
