Mr Hicks,

Commanding and confident picking!! You've got the chops for sure:) Nice writting as well. I liked the change around 1:30. It took me a second to adjust and I came out grinning.

The mix might be in need of some pan. The gits are captured well and clean as all get out but, it kinda sounded like one git was sitting on the others lap. Just a thought, mind you....

Great piece. Very glad I listened.

Peace,

Theron.

I don't know Doc and Merle Watson, but I liked that! I really like that main lick, actually seems like something Paul McCartney might do (to me). I thought I heard some timing things, but it may be the overlapping of guitars, as Theron pointed out. I agree that panning might be something to try. But a cool ditty, for sure.

I keep getting a Windows media player error.
Happens a lot when I try to download from Artists Launch.
It's o.k at Nowhere, wonder if I'm missing a driver or some file extension?

Real bummer,Doc is one of my all time favorites,I really wanted to hear this!
My birthday and his are actually on the same day,not that it ever helped my playing any! :D

Best to you,
Pete

I'm not the writer. The first version I ever heard was Chet Atkins on solo guitar.Doc and Merle covered him and I am covering them.

The first mix was a quicky for a collaborator buddy.I have remixed it with pan and verb.

What album is this off? I could do no less than benefit from picking it up:) The Doc and Merle version that is........

Thanks in advance,

Theron.

P.S.

Are you intent on posting the finished collab? (hint, hint;) )

Theron
I think the album was called Pickin'.I have posted the remix under the original file name to save myself redoing all that HTML bother.Just click the original link above.
No collaboration on this one, just me.I meant I did this tune as a special request of an internet buddy named Don from Seattle who I've done some country-tune collaborations with.He had a small stroke recently and hasn't been able to play. Here is a link to one of Don's covers...

Born To Lose

One of my favs by Travis. One of the first I learned to finger pick on. Nice job my friend.

I don't know who 'doc' and 'Merle Watson' are, but this was totally cool.. maybe a few timing things, but cool none the less..

Hey Pete, I had to download a Windows media 'plug in' from the music match site in order to play it..

Doc Watson is one of the best flat pickers in the world. He's blind and used to record and tour with his son, Melre (who was named for Merle Travis, the father of this style of finger picking) until he was killed (the son, that is) in an accident on a tractor.

Tom, excellent picking and sound...and great choice of song to cover. The guitars sound very alive and crisp. Great job, as usual!

macle and sabbath... you guys outta be bitch slapped, and come to Kentucky to learn about our hillbilly forefathers of great.
just kiddin', of course...but the invite is there, none the less.

lemme get this thing down loaded to hear it...

nice 'front porch' picking. I little midrangy/honky sounding...but nice vibe.

mixmkr, the poor boys evidently have never sat on a porch on a crispy Fall evening gettin' knee-slappin', commode-huggin', shit-slingin' sloppy drunk and smoked up playing everything from Muddy to Doc and all points in between.
Never did it myself, but there's rumors of an evil twin. :D

That was the second, and the very last song of yours I will comment on..

Not that you didn't look like you appreciated it though..

your welcome.

Belated thanks for the comments and I apologise if you thought I wasn't appreciative enough,Sabbath.I'll try to muddle on anyway.
