Hi All,

I just got an SM57 two days ago, and have tried it out on several things. I recorded my set with it, and it has a lot more punch and colour than the radio shack mics i just parted with LOL...and is a lot more sensitive toooooo. I tried recorded myself singing, but get a lot of pops and clicks due to the absent wind screen.....is there any way i can make one, or cheap ones to buy? Thanks.

You take a clothes hanger (one of those wired ones)
1. make a hoop.
2. next time the stalkings come off your gf, you keep em :)
3. pull them over the hoop.
4. Now tape that sucker to your mic stand in front of the mic.

Voila!!!!

Three low cost options:

1. Get a wire coat hanger, bend in into a circle and slide a ladies' nylon stocking over it (preferrable a clean nylon - but your choice)

2. Get a wood embroidery hoop and once again a nylon stocking

3. Get a "splash guard' (used to cover a frying pan)

Option two if done properly will look best (use black nylons - not flesh covered) also use your girl friends, not your mom's - cause that would be gross.

You can buy a "professional" wind screen for about $25 - which is the best option.
