Windscreens for STO-2's.

I guess I'm in need of some windscreens for my Avenson STO-2's. In theory the 1/4" lavalier screens are supposed to work. Even though the mics are supposedly 0.3" wide.

When I stopped by guitar center, the selection was not very impressive. And at $25 per windscreen I'm tempted to make my own. Just how much wind do these things block anyway? Especially at the lavalier size. Should I just tape a couple bozo noses to the tips of my mics and be happy. Or is there some sort of magic associated with $25 windscreens the size of small marbles? I guess I'm just mad that normal windscreens were like $6 and these lavalier ones were $25 EACH at 1/8th the size. Any other options out there I should consider? Towel? Socks? Sponge?

I plan on doing location recordings outdoors. And I live in a city that can be a bit windy at times.
 
My Earthworks mic came with one - I know they are out there. Last time I was at a Sam Ash Music, they had a large supply of various sizes, none of them expensive. I have a pair of Avensons as well - I should locate some windscreens too.
 
Now the WindTech seems more like what I'd want. The Avenson guy said that they don't make windscreens for them. But the 1/4" lavalier ones should work. Which kind of sucks since they're an Austin, TX based company and I live on the outskirts of Austin, TX. Even though I got my pair used from Nebraska. I guess I'll swing by Radio Shack sometime this week and see what they have. I've still got to acquire some batteries for my Korg MR-1000 anyway.

According to the Avenson guy they're 0.3" so 0.375" might be a bit loose. Unless the Avenson guy was just giving a rough spec.

It looks like the 2100 series might work better. Thanks for the heads up. I might also consider the 74169 Military as well. Water repulsion is a plus. At least I know what I'm looking for now.
 
I picked up a set of tie clip mic windscreens at Radio Shack. $2.99. I had to stretch/work them on, but they're on. Doesn't really prevent wind noise, but does help keep from having constant wind noise when there's a lull in the breeze. I really need something more significant to make the difference I'm wanting. But they're better than nothing.

I sent an inquiry to Kennedy's in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (semi-local +/- 200 miles). And a couple days later no response. WindTech lists them as a distributor, but I couldn't find WindTech items in their catalog. They did have a fuzzy wind jammer thing that might work alright. Or at least looks cool, like fuzzy dice on the tips of my mics.
 
I guess I'm still in need. Any tips for finding a local source for wind screens? I'd prefer to support the local economy. Otherwise I suppose I need to mail order some. I don't do financial transactions online. But I'm more than willing to snail mail a check or money order.

I sent an email to Kennedy's Eng, the Texas distributor for WindTech. And have heard nothing back from them after several weeks. I just sent an email inquiry into WindTech today. The semi-local guitar center and radio shack do not have what I want. Although did have something.

The tie clip ones I got from radio shack are only good for wind < 5 mph. Better than nothing. But not much better. There's typically a 30 mph sustained wind in these parts. Sometimes a lot faster. Of course virtually no wind once it crests 100F.
