I've got a HP CD-Writer 7500e (external) connected to the parallell port of a PC I have recently been trying to convert into a decent DAW. I've added a new HD for audio data and switched to Windoze 2K. The Adaptec software that came with the CD-Writer is not compatable with 2K ( surprise ). I was just wondering if any of you folks have been in the same situation and how you got around it. I am not spending £100 on ver 5.0 of the Adaptec/Roxio software. At the moment I can't even get the system to recognize that there is a CD drive attached...is the Adaptec software necessary to tell my PC that the parallell port is talking to a CD-Writer ? Probably. Anyway if their is no other way around it, maybe somebody could suggest the earliest (cheapest) version of the software that works with 2K, as Roxio are telling me I need 5.0 (which I don't believe) and the HP website is telling me I need 4.01c (which I can't find). I know SOMEBODY has to have resolved this situation before. Anyone working for Roxio sales please do not reply...
