WinXP is Win2k with a cute new little interface, not much else as far as digital audio recording professionals are concerned.
I'm using a M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 with Sonar using their latest Wdm drivers for XP. Not a single drop-out or freeze. I'm getting 2ms. latency so far.drstawl said:What soundcard are you getting to work flawlesssly with XP?
This question applies to all of those reporting positive experiences with XP.
And what features of XP Pro made you drop the extra C-note on the Pro Version?
Alchemist3k said:The main one is Cubase - some people claim they got it working ok but I have my doubts and I would rather wait until Steinberg make a release which is 100% Win XP compatable. Cubase 5.1 is due out soon and has no updates on the XP compatability side of things as far as I know.
I love XP as an OS but until it is proven i will steer clear of it for my audio setup at the moment.

You should be able to pick up a USB audio interface of some sort. That should do to replace a four track at leastmikeolson74 said:Hi. I am new to the group and to home recording. I'm looking for a little help. In August, I bought a 4-track at a garage sale and have ahd fun monkeying around with it (I'm as amateur a musician as they come). Anyway, I just bought a laptop with XP on it and I'm wondering-can I use it to record and replace my 4-track? ANd How?
