Looking for a furry cover for a handheld. Anyone
got any leads? I think Rycote might
make one for like $70 but wondering if
there's any other?

i passed a rabbit

a ground squirrel

and something unrecognizable

all flattened on the highway

on the way to work this morning

i could pick you one up

if i can get it away form the

eagle, buzzards, crows and magpies

any preference?

Yeah, I think it would have to be furry in order
to provide wind protection outdoors. Those
foam ones aren't usually too helpful
outdoors.

Also need furry for an NT3.

Maybe. The NT3 and SM58-type handhelds
are, I think, quite a bit thicker than those
shotgun mikes.

Hmmm...the president uses foam filters on his SM57's outside all the time. I've never had a problem with mine either, using either the shure screen, or foam ones from radio shack. Are you in a really windy area, or something?

I'm pretty sure it will fit. You might just need some gaff tape to keep it on.

"Designed to fit over the existing foam windshield, the DeadCat is held on by Velcro tabs."

I think this has to do with the mic pattern and sensitivity more than the wind levels.

Sure, but he/she still hasn't said what kind of mic it is, other than a "handheld dynamic," 98% of which are going to be cardioid or hypercardioid.

....... can't possibly be as windy or full of hot air as DC.....

Actually, I have just assumed I'd need fur
based upon my experience with condensers
outdoors, but you are making me wonder that
perhaps I don't. Maybe dynamics are less
susceptible to wind problems.
Like you say, if the president and yourself
can get away with just foam ...
