Ok, I know I clarified this in my update posts...which I know are long and boring.
The holdup is:
1) Money. We simply don't have enough right now.
2) Me. I'm not done yet and I refuse to feel guilty. I am working on it. I ran into a MAJOR obstacle and just resolved it last night so I'm back on track. Creating a multi-platform multi-browser CD-Extra from scratch is a more difficult task than it initally sounds. I also have to redesign the jackets because the requirements have changed a bit....this should only take one evening though, and this can be done while the CD's are in duplication.
3) There may or may not be some contracts out there. I'm not going to name names because I think the person or persons involved might have pretty good excuses. I am waiting until the last possible minute to contact them via phone (if my phone numbers are even up-to-date).
4) The guy who's printing & duping has yet to create the sample CD. Before we give him our dough I want to make sure that the design i came up with will print correctly. Ed's on this one.
As soon I am done I will be FedExing beta masters to a few people on both Mac and PC for some down and dirty quick testing. Once I'm confident that it's good enough, my master will be sent to Ed and he will in turn create a final master. This process shouldn't take too long. IF we have the money at this point, the CD will go into duplication. The turnaround should only be a few days.
Once we have the CD's, Ed will probably test his copy and make sure everything is cool. If so they'll be mailed back to me. I will be creating the CD's on the fly when orders come in. I am printing the jackets myself with a photo cartridge on gloss templates...it should look very nice and cost quite a bit less than having a printer do it (we don't have the preorders for a real printer anyway). The cool news in this regard is that I'm going to number the first 50. Anyway, it'll probably take an hour per CD to print and stuff and I will send them out as they are ready so the initial rush take a good weekend to get out.
And that's that. Everyone who preordered at this point will get listed in the credits of the CD for your troubles. I'm sorry if I caused any confusion. I tried to make sure to use the term "pre-order" in all my requests for money.
