Will this work??!!

Alright so, I am kinda new to the whole digital recording scene and Im wondering if this set up will work:

Ok so on my comp I'm running vista and I believe I have 2.5Gb ram and 320Gb hard drive, also I'm using audacity and FL studio. Im looking into getting a cheap interface and mic to start, to try it out and see if I like it, you know:P soo heres what I want to get:

Soo what im asking is will that interface and mic work for recording acoustic's? I know there cheap but I just want to get a taste before I go blowing tonss.

Both should suit you fine as you dip your toes into the water of home recording. They will both do the job without breaking the bank.

Should you decide that you like doing this stuff and want to progress further, be prepared to replace both.
 
idont think the tascam unit supplies phantom power. if not then it wont work with your condenser you plan on buying.
 
yeah. I don't see phantom power either. You'll need phantom power for you condensor mic.
 
As someone else already pointed out, if you get more into recording later, you'll likely replace both of these pieces of gear. That being said, I recommend trying to find a used interface and a used mic, because if you choose to get rid of them and upgrade later, you'll be able to sell them for about what you paid for them.

Thanks to all those who pointed out that that interface doesn't have phantom power. That slipped past me . . . I'm so used to that being included on interfaces I didn't think to check!
 
thanks alot for the help, what exacly is phanthom poweer or w.e?? and that interface look better:) and where should I look for used stuff?
 
Condenser microphones have a charged back plate that requires voltage. 48v phantom power is the standard for non-electret condensers. Phantom power will not hurt most other dynamic mics but be careful with ribbon mics because 48v will fry most ribbon mics. There are some exceptions.

Look for used gear on Craig's list or ebay.
