After years of procrastination in which I have driven myself, and one of my friends, crazy, I am finally in the home straight of buying a DAW.
The following specs./products are what I'm aiming for, and I'm wondering what people would say about the potential conflicts with Sonar Home Studio or 6:
Asus P5W DH Deluxe
2 GB RAM - Corsair 2 Duo E6600
2.4 GHz
SATA II - Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM X 3 HD's
RME Fireface 400 firewire audio interface
I've read that people recommend HD's with at least 16MB cache, and that things like LCD monitors provide less interference than CRT ones.
Also, in looking at the Fireface's specs, I realize that the unit only has one type of driver (can't remember if they're ASIO or WDM). Would this matter?
Also, the Fireface does not have 64 bit capability, apparently. Should I worry about this?
I anticipate that my typical recording will vary between 12 and 20 tracks, with some going very heavy on the effects. Will be doing some 'traditional' rock, and then another project with a friend which will feature a lot of modulation effects etc..
I'd appreciate any help that anyone can give me.
Thanks
GV
