will my soundcard work

Ok I have a mr8 fostex multitracker. I know that my soundcard is not that good. If I record on to the mr8 then import the stuff to the computer for editung through the usb will the soundcard quality come into play?
 
Not really....the audio you record on your Fostex is there and won't change once it's there. All you're doing w/ the USB is moving the track to your hrad drive on your computer. The MAIN reason people by expensive soundcards is for additional mic/line inputs. Quality is a factor, but if you're just doing project stuff, you'll be fine....
 
you say quality is an issue. What do you mean by that. I may try to record some whole records for my friends and while its not professional I want good quality.
 
You can check out the sampling rates on the cards to make sure tyou have the highest you can afford....Quality comes w/ price unfortunately. Quality comes from many things other than the soundcard too, like your mics and preamps pushing them.
