Hi.
I have an 880 and for some reason when I set up a song and name it, then record, then save it, then recall the song or come back to it later.....the song name goes back "initial song 001" or whatever.

All of the audio saves as well as the set up perameters, just not the song name.

I mean its not THAT bigg a deal but if anyone has any suggestions.......please suggest away.

Oh.....and I know I asked this before but.......

DOES ANYONE HAVE THE EXPANSION CARD PATCH LIST OR MANUAL OR SOURCE OF INFO ON IT?????????????

P L E E E E A A A S S S S S E E E E E.............
its driving me batty.

Thanks

That's really weird ... 2 things I can think of:

1. Do you have song-protect on? If so, you can't write anything to the file; it's basically read-only. To find out if you do, go under "Song" edit condition, press that till you get to Name/Protect, then cursor to the song-protect option. If equals "On," rotate the dial to turn it off. I always press ENTER after doing any selections under the edit buttons, because sometimes that's necessary, and when it isn't, it doesn't hurt anything.

2. If song-protect's not on, try creating the name and then hitting ENTER before you hit display. Then do a store. See if the name's still there by going into SONG Select after that.

I'm talking from an 840.. however when I type in the song name, before going off that screen I usually save the song..

Just a suggestion...

Got it!!

Thanks folks.

I was just hitting yes at "store current?" when shutting down and it wasnt saving song names.
But then I saw [STORE] and I thought that probably works to store things in progress.

DUH.......silly me.

That worked and is also easier because now that I have got a couple of different songs going on at the same time with different settings it is a lot easier to flip back and forth without trouble.

.........is there some kind of secret society that I need to be a member of to get info, patch list, of even a manual for the effects card to my 880???????
Nobody anywhere seems willing to respond in any way to my quest for more infomation on the effects card.
O.K. O.K. so i got it used. Whats the big deal??? I just want to be able to read more than just abreviations of effects and guesstimate through trial and error at what each patch might do.

FZ:

Where do you live? Maybe someone here lives near you and will let you copy their copy, if they have one.

I don't know if any such doc exists online, but if it does, I'm sure it's at www.vsplanet.com.

Or maybe even Roland has PDFs avail. for download?

big delay.......

....sorry for the delay.

I am in the Albany NY area and if anyone has a copy i could copy, that would be grrrate.

thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah, the planet has been a fruitless search so far. I usually bounce between here and there when I'm on, but so far nuthin'.

FX Manual/Patch list

You can call Roland and get an FX manual and/or the patch list for the VS8F-1 expansion card.

Call 323.890.3741 and ask them to patch you to Customer Svc.

rockin'

Thanks Mojo.
I called and a Mr. J.P. Coolguy from roland support hooked me up and faxed me a patch list.
He even waited on the phone to confirm that it went through and gave me some good info on how the effects were basicaly laid out .
VERY COOL.

Now....the next little situation is that the list doesnt match up to the 880's list.

Well, it mostly does but it jumps around a little.
So I called back and I did not get to speak to J.P. and the guy I did talk to was not quite as helpful but he said I should go get the lastest OS.
I have the original (I think) v. 1.02.

Will updating to the current give me a Matched patch list????
I mean the effects card shouldnt really be dependant on the OS, should it???

Any way thatks for the number.

-mike

whooo hooooo

Yes....

updating the OS to 3.2??A did indeed give me matching patch lists and all of the effects a little boy could dream of....
well almost.

I'm so psyched.

It even says "EXPANDED" when Boot the damn thing up.

And since I had it hooked up MIDI to my (OUR house) computer anyway, and since my "music computer" is still 256mb of ram and a frustrating weekend from being built, I decided to try an sync up to ACID and to my suprise.....

....it worked with minimal headaches.

Manuals are sooooo convenient for the dumb and neo-MIDI-guy's.

Cool!

Cool, FZ...

FYI - Did you know there's a really good 880 V-Xpanded Applications manual available on Roland's website for download? It blows the manual away! Let me know if you can't find it and I'll get the link for you...

MC

Thanks Mojo

Thanks.

I think I may have the one you mean (is it the one where there is a long first chapter on all of the new V-Expanded functions??)

....but feel free to post the link in case I have something else.

I like to scrounge all the readable info I can......it's the most productive way for me to spend down time at my day job(s).

BTW.......????.........what do all of the 19 parts of VOCODER 2 do, exactly.
I know they change the character of the vocoding effect but I don't know what putting all the odd ones at 100 and even ones at 0 does compared to all of them randomly between 40 and 60.

Anywho.....thanks again Mojo.

-Mike

.....Yeah and the new 6 tracks in MAS mode instead of 4 is very cool.

880 V-Xpanded App's Manual

I think I may have the one you mean (is it the one where there is a long first chapter on all of the new V-Expanded functions??)
I'm thinking you're talking about the "regular" owners manual - it has a long first chapter about the expanded functions. But the 880 V-Xpanded Applications Manual KICKS THE "REGULAR" OWNERS MANUAL'S ASS!! Click on the above link, then click "Support Documents", then click on the "VS-880 V-Xpanded Application Guide*" link for the .pdf download.

Sorry, I'm not up to speed on the Vocoder 2. I use very little effects, maybe just some 'verb, some delay...I used a mic sim or two before I got a condenser mic.

Cheers! Enjoy the Apps Manual - I think you'll dig it MUCH more than the "regular" manual!!

MC

Mojo, you freakin rock!

You could not have been more right about the 880Vex App Manual.

Big ass kickin'.

Thanks much and sorry for the delay but
....i got fo' jobs mon.
I'm sure I will be seeking you wise council in the near future.
