why use a mixer?

I have a behringer eurorack2442fxpro mixer. I got it as a gift and use it mainly for the preamps when i record drums, then feed it to my fa-101 firewire interface. However, i was wondering how/why i would want to use it with my DAW. I mean, i can do everything in the software, i don't have any external hardware effects, and I usually mix 2+ projects (for music and film) at any point, which usually takes a few days, so I need my faders to stay in the same place (which a computer does a good job at remembering). Since I only use it for the preamps, i was thinking about selling the fa-101 and the mixer and just getting a presonus firepod or something...any suggestions as to why I would wanna keep it? THanks!

as long as the preamp are better in the firepod, no, there is no reason. Except mabye the eq on the board?

The only question I would have is in relation to the number of inputs. How many do you need? How many does the mixer have versus the firepod? That should help you decide.

People tend to use a mixer combined with a DAW if they prefer to have the knobs and faders to hand and/or they like using a lot of outboard gear.

My view is that there's not much point unless you have a decent quality console and decent quality rack processors.

Is this an advantage compared to possibilities in eq-ing in software?

Thanks in advance.
