You'd better believe it, RAMI, because if I had decided to take this private, I wouldn't be using those words and I'd be open and honest about it. I have nothing to hide but it so happens I don't believe it warrants giving you the pleasure or the time. There are only two possible conclusions to this: either you're mistaken or some kind of game you were playing has backfired on you. I'm not sure which but it doesn't matter, as the whole thing has descended into a tit-for-tat school yard scuffle, which I don't want to be a part of. I've told you it isn't worth it, yet you persist in trying to raise my ire. Well, if you want to carry on wasting your own time, that's up to you. You say I'm a 'decent sort' so I might as well try and live up to it, eh? Perhaps we could both call it quits in that case?
As for the rest of you, I'm very sorry if I've offended your sensibilities by stating my personal preferences and workarounds. I'm aware that some people can get rather attached to their tools and methods and don't like to face anything negative said about their 'toys'.
And before anyone gets excited about my choice of words, it's because I believe recording can still be fun to whatever extent... Okay?
This 'incompetent' now has two computers working for him by a mixture of trial and error, a couple of suggestions from the more helpful and cooler-headed members of this forum and outside advice. One on office & internet duty and graphics, the other reserved only for sound sequencing and editing.
The fact that I've reduced my total reliance on the PC is the thing which seems to have got some people over excited. Let me repeat it, for those who didn't catch it the first time around:
I have reduced my RELIANCE on the computer and put in place a simple, reliable and portable unit to augment the system as a whole. I have not abandoned the computer completely. I've simply put it into my workflow, where I believe it belongs FOR MY particular way of working. No more, no less. They work... The point is, it took a lot of fiddling about to get there, when I had hoped for an easier time of it.
Have you got that? Good.
Yep! I'm so closed minded about PCs, that I actually have four of them pulling together in various aspects of my work... But let me ask you - does it mean I have to like them?
I'm so closed minded and incompetent that I've learned not to tax their resources as I have in the past and have vowed to make better efforts to maintain them in future.
Unfortunately, if I reply individually to each one who has gone off
the deep end and try to address the assumptions and ad hominem attacks, (
and yes, Lt. Bob, I do class asking me if I'm 12 as an insult) LOL! We could be here all day, playing ping pong and, believe it or not, I do have a life outside this forum and work to get on with. I've already spent enough time typing this. Damn!
I'd just like to thank you all for your input, helpful or not. I'm sure you believe you're doing and saying the 'right things' and who am I to stand in the way of that?
Have fun...
