Why no sound when I record only when I playback?

No sound comes out when I record.
But when I press play it works. I have the right device for playback and recording.
But if I can´t hear myself when I record it´s too difficult.
Please give me some advice.
Is it because I have a laptop and the internal interafce isn´t good enough?
 
What soundcard are you using? Have you check that the recording device setup in your software is set for the soundcard your using? If you soundcard has a software mixer? have you checked that the routing is right? How's your hardware all connected?
