Last night I saw Lance Lopez at a Blues club in Ft. Worth. This guy completely blew my mind! He was playing the fastest, wailingest blues runs I've heard sense Johnny Winter. Here's a link.

Altho my main thing is housemusic, i like to hear different styles of music and i like blues.

Maybe here's someone else you might be interested in. I got it from a friend a while ago. A white dude that sings and plays like a black man....i can only say this boy got soul..

Kelly Joe Phelps

He don't fuck around do he. Listened to hear my train a comin' gave me that good ol smokey room feeling.

Have you ever heard of Tony Springer? He's been doing a jimi cover act called fire since time began as well as lots of other stuff. Totally wales.

I'll tell you why you've never heard of him before. It's because A&R Reps don't think he's "marketable and profitable." Bunch of idiots.

Have any of you Texans ever heard of a band called "Moses Guest"? I think they are from down your way.

Duarte rocks! As a matter of fact, I'm going to see him on the 20th. He gave me a set of his old used guitar strings last time I saw him and I have them framed and hanging on my wall.

You're right about that simpleblue. But, Lopez is a local guy around Dallas/Ft. Worth, I should have known about him before now.

Johnny Winter is fast no matter which of his songs you're lessioning to.

Well, I like it and he's good but not original. Basically he has the Hendrix sound and vocal on the electric side of things and the Johnny Winter slide guitar/maybe some Stevie Ray in there too kind of sound. Very talented but not unique. The one original song on that list kind of falls flat.

If I were his manager, and because he's very talented, I would have him develop some original or non distinct tones and just have him play his own stuff for about a year until he develops his own style. I did hear some very original chording on some of those songs and he should concentrate in that area.

IMHO

Well, I downloaded his parody of Crossroads. That's my take on it, a parody. Though the Slide was good, the singing seemed intentionally sick. I downloaded both live tunes. Purple Haze did not impress me a bit. Mr Rattlesnake was a bit better. I don't know if I would have posted these tunes if it were me. The playing is good but the hiss in his signal chain is aweful on the the two Live tunes. Sounds like frying eggs in the interludes and though the Verses.

Though he is a good guitarist, the hype in his bio about his originality is just that, hype. Got to agree with Middleman on his comments.
