Hi i have a huge problem while recording my tracks.
let´s say that i have recorded drums in track 1.
I need to hear the drums to be able to record my guitar on track 2 right!?
So when i record my guitar the drums from track 1 copy itself into track 2 so now there are both drums and guitar there. So how do i record one instrumet/track without them copying themselves? When i press mute on track 1, track 2 is recording just fine, but then again, i have to hear the drums. Do I make any sense??

I desperately need an answer for this one.

I have a SB Live 1024

You probably have the "What U Hear" option selected as the recording input in the Windows mixer -- that's what'll happen. Try unselecting that and choosing just the WAV device.
If you don't know how to find this, search through the posts here, it's an issue that comes up in one form or another over and over again.

Windows mixer?

Thanx for yhe advice
Unfourtunately I can´t find the Windows mixer, but i won't give up.
Thanx again

Spell check

That would be a "t" and nothing else, thank you very much!

Look for the little yellow speaker icon in the lower right corner of the Windows desktop, where the time is displayed - the so-called systray area.

Or - through the Start menu - Programs -> Accessories -> Multimedia -> Volume Control.

It opens with the playback controls shown. Select Properties from the Options menu, then select Recording and click OK to show the recording controls.

Hey,

What are you using to listen to the drums? Headphones? or Monitors? If you are listening through speakers then when you record the guitar part, the mic you are using to record the guitar is picking up the drum sound coming out of the speakers. Thus drums and guitar on the same track.

Peace

I've got it!

I've solved the problem and thanks to you Al for helping me out. It was just a click away and vôila everything worked just fine.
Thanx man!
