Why do I need a mixer?

Hi all, I've noticed in a few posts from time to time that someone suggests that one should be using a hardware mixer along with their DAW setup. What advantage is there to doing this? I have an Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96 and I've been using the software mixer that comes with that and I've been happy. Is there something I am missing by not having an external mixer like a Mackie 1202 or something similar.

Sincerely,
Chris

You dont need one....biggest reasons to have a mixer is for the preamps, routing several sources to the soundcard, and external mixing...you have all the bases covered so there is no need for you to have one....
