That is the other thing epi guys do. "I have a gibson too!!!"

I say "My other guitar is a very nice Strat. A corona made FENDER '62 RI. does anyone know where I can get premade water slide stickers that say Fender Stratocaster for my Squier?"
I actually put a Squire tag on my Beck to see who would bite, quite a few.....

Sorry, Cephus, another I-don't-give-a-shit here. My Epi Les Paul Custom is a lovely guitar with a perfect neck. I admit the pickups needed an upgrade to Classic 57's. I switch between that and an Epi Casino (both made in Korea by Samick). Oddly enough, the P-90's on the Casino did not need replacing, they're fundamentally OK. The other axes are a Highway One Telecaster (Assembled in US with MIM parts, Japanese neck), and a Jimmy Vaughn Tex-Mex Stratocaster
(Assembled in Mexico with US parts, ? Japanese neck). Every one of them was partially or completely built by underpaid foreign workers, even the Tele, which does say "Made in USA", a half-truth, if ever I saw one.
Guess what? I sold my SG Supreme with the unstable neck that never would hold tune, and it paid for all four. Every one of them is a better axe for my purposes than the SG was. BFD. I don't think my target audience are a bunch of guitar collectors anyway. And no, I don't hide the headstock, and I don't wear temporary tatoos. Don't like my Korean guitars? Put your fingers in your ears.-Richie

Hey, I LIKE my Epiphone!

Of course, it's a 1967 Cortez flat-top acoustic made in Kalamazoo at the Gibson factory. And I bought it for $50 in 1972. Not a bad deal, all in all. :D

Several years ago, in a guitar class, I ran into a guy who had the equivalent Gibson. We had a lot of fun comparing them. The logo was about all we could see a difference in.

My Epi is the most NAME guitar/bass I have - I don't count the Korean made Fender 12 acoustic as being really NAME - do you?
Coronet, Bruno, Vantage, 333, etc. I LOVE them all & each has at least 1 truly endearing or useful quality, most have more. Oh, and I'm cheap.

Who the fuck cares whether you play a top of the line guitar, home made guitar, $200 MIM guitar. Bottom line is, if you can play, it will sound good on any guitar. I've seen muscians tear it up on POS plywood git-ups, with crowds that were awestruck because of the musician not because of the gear he had. I'm sure most of us would like to own a top end guitar, but, just like anything, if you can't play it, whats the point.

There was once a time when labels and logos mattered to me. Fortunately as my playing improved (that part took many years) the names became less important. For the past several years, sound and comfort have become the main factor in choosing guitars for me. I've owned several "real" Gibsons and Fenders and they were fine guitars in their own right. On the other hand I've had some "off brand" guitars which played or sounded better. It always makes me feel good when someone else is impressed by one of my "other" guitars. I've never been ashamed of my Vantage VS600, even though it's finish is badly worn, or any of my less than $300 Ibanezs, and i glow with pride every time someone says my Johnson sounds as good as a "real" Les Paul, and it plays better than a lot of Gibsons that I've played. I say, never hide the name, be proud of the fact that you found something nice without paying for a name on the headstock.

Yeah, I'm filled with pride when someone compliments my 'Johnson', too. :D

I would be, too, if anyone ever did! :o :D

I love Epi's

Washburn, Schecter & Squier's too.

For all you who like to feed the Gibson machine, consider this quote from Keith Richards:

I don't care whether it's a Gretsch Country Gentleman, a Japanese copy of a Strat or a 53' Tele, give me five minutes and I'll make them all sound the same.

In my case the Epi LP was my first electric guitar...then I "upgraded" to the Gibson LP later (primarily due to the fact I ran across an unbelievable deal on it...I just couldn't pass it up).

I could never bring myself to sell off the Epi though...

My Epi probably cost more than most of your Gibsons :p

its limied edition casino. its a replica of john lennons right down to the exposed screw holes and serial #. the build quality is amazing and it sounds awesome.

the marshall sounds great but its better for home playing and recording rather than playing with a loud drummer. i guess of you miced it it would be fine in a live situation. the tone is pure classic marshall at a reasonable volume.

Like to take pictures of their guitar bodies and cut off the headstock?

Agile fans, too.

Why do squier fans buy water slide decals of the fender spaghetti logo and put them on the peghead of their affinities?

Is it because they feel all empty inside?

Don't buy into it, guys. Enjoy your banana wood Crapocasters and MDF Less-than-Pauls. Show us what you'd rather spend your dosh on than membership in an owners' club!

Probably the same reason that Jap cruiser riders take the Honda and Kawasaki badges off their Harley copies :D

ducks and runs out of thread :D
