Why do all of the sudden, all my midi tracks automatically loop themselves in Logic??

I am trying to record my drum tracks step by step like I always have. I am using the EXS24mkII with the "Drumkit From Hell" samples instead of the Roland JV1010 to make the drum sounds.

But anyway... I record two measures of steady high-hat tap tap tap tap... but when I click stop to stop recording, the two measures automatically duplicates itself all the way out until the end of the song (200 + measures). It has never done this before. I have spent the past hour looking through every menu and the manual trying to disengage this midi copy feature and can find nothing.

Anyone know what I am talking about and know how to dismantle it?

so all you've done is switch samples and it started? every thing else is the same before the samples? no driver, config, etc?
