Why Can't I get my aux send to work on my yamaha mg 16/4 mixer

I am semi new at live playing (I am just a guitarist in fusion band) anyway I can't get any effects working through my aux sends on my new mixer......could it be the cord? I have no clue any help would be greatly appreciated

Decribe how you have things routed now and someone may be able to help you better. I'm not familiar with that paticular board, but the Aux Sends on my Soundcraft board output to an external device, and then you need to bring inputs back to the board from that device, either on a mono or stereo input channel.

Be aware of whether your aux send that you're using for effects is pre or post fader. Is your master aux volume open? Do you have all the right connections going into your effects unit? Is any sound making it successfullly to the effects unit?

Start at the beginning of the signal and go from there.
