This weekend I had the whole fam damily on a last-ditch-road-trip-before-school-starts excursion down to southern Oregon. On the way home yesterday, we decided to come up 101 and drive the Oregon Coast route. As with most outings, we stopped at various yard sales and antique (junk) stores along the way.

At one little store in Florence, there was a half-off stand with various items that apparently didn't sell the first time since they were so over-priced. As I'm sifting through, I find a pair of Hard Rock Cafe - New York drum sticks (which I collect) with a sticker on the back that says: 'Rare Hard Rock gig-series'.

One of the sticks had this rough/sloppy signature on it (for those of you who've ever been duped into signing a drumstick, you know why) so I bought them for $19.00.

After looking at the signature, I have some thoughts on who it might be, but I wanted jooguyz to have a look and make some guesstimates too...

Also, here is Buddy Rich's sig...doesn't look like it.
It all depends on what you're looking for. The way the capital letters are formed is quite similar between the "neat" and "sloppy" versions. I'm sure Buddy's autograph was quite variable depending on what condition he was in, and also how much of a hurry he was in.

After seeing the other apparently genuine BR sigs, I am confident that BentRabbit probably didn't waste $19 minus the intrinsic value of the pair of sticks.

Was Rich even living when those sticks where made?

I wanted to check on that too...

The original Hard Rock Cafe in New York opened in 84 and Buddy died in 87...

Congratulations. Your sticks have been signed by Bobby...the bartender from Hard Rock Cafe. Your $19 investment in twenty years...will be worth about $4.99.

Enjoy.

I'd re-post this on the pearldrummerforums, or drumdogs.
